Have you ever strolled along Yates St. between Cook St. and Vancouver St. and spotted a charming community garden that you wish you could explore? Well, mark your calendars because an opportunity is approaching!

 

On Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM, the gates to the garden will open to the public. You are cordially invited to come and appreciate the beautiful flowers, diverse vegetables, fruits, and herbs and observe the wonderful urban pollinators. You can also browse through the various garden plots and be inspired by the innovative techniques and strategies that our community of gardeners has used to maximize growth potential. Additionally, we will have two canopies set up so you can relax with a cup of coffee and a snack from one of the local coffee shops.

 

The Victoria Downtown Residents Association’s Urban Ecology and Agriculture Committee will also be present to discuss their plans for a second community garden in Downtown Victoria and to enhance green space for the community. The committee’s Victoria Coolkit will also be there to share their municipal-level goals for addressing the climate emergency in the upcoming year. So, come and join us in the garden and say hi!
