Eats & Beats on the Street

Updated: Sep 9, 2021

Wednesday, August 9 2017   5:30 – 9:30 pm – 500 Block Johnson Street

The Victoria Downtown Residents Association (DRA) and the businesses along Lower Johnson (LoJo) are co-hosting Eats & Beats on the Street on Wednesday, August 9, 5:30-9:30 pm on the 500-block Johnson Street for a community event celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of the residential and local business communities in the downtown core.

“The residential community in downtown Victoria is booming and we have a fabulous variety of locally-owned businesses in the city. After the success of the Fiesta On Fort last summer, we’re pleased to create a second event with our neighbours on LoJo. This event is about bringing residents out to meet and get to know each other and all the great local businesses on LoJo for some fun, food and music,” says Wendy Bowkett, board member of the DRA.

A large Pop Up Parklet will be set in the morning along the north side of Johnson Street in front of Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria for everyone in the area to enjoy throughout the day. At 5:30pm, DJs will set up near the parklet and provide beats on the street for the evening. Famoso will be offering specials for DRA members at the event and members will receive a gift from local businesses when they register at the event (while supplies last). All residents are invited to come down to Eats & Beats on the Street to meet other neighbours from the community, stroll the block while exploring local businesses and soak up the sun and the music in the Pop Up Parklet.

“LoJo is truly a local street and we are thrilled to be able to collaborate with the Downtown Residents Association on this event; Eats & Beats on the Street.  What a fun way to strengthen community and connections between the businesses on our street and the residents of downtown,” says Teri Hustins, owner of Oscar & Libby’s.

We hope you will join us for the kick-off of this event at 5:30 pm on Aug 9 on 500-block Johnson Street.
