**Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have decided to postpone the festival by a week to Sunday, August 14th, same times and places. We apologize for the inconvenience.**
The DRA is partnering with the organizers of the Victoria Bicycle Music Festival to bring their 5th annual pedal-powered, mobile music festival to the Downtown neighbourhood! The festival rolls through Lekwungen Territory on Sunday, August 7th.
The event will feature bicycle-powered performances by Kady Savard, Paint the Town Red, Caleb Hart, From the Ghost, Finley Rose, STAR Drum Group, Jeremiah Gittens (poetry), Lee Ingram (dance) and more!
The festival will start in Harris Green Park (Pandora between Vancouver and Cook) at 1 pm with a Lekwungen Welcome by TEALIYE/Brianna Bear, followed by drumming by STAR Drum Group, poetry by Jeremiah Gittens, and music by Caleb Hart. The festivities will then move over to Central Park (beside Crystal Pool) for additional performances starting at 3 pm. Visit www.vicbikemusicfest.ca for more details and join the Facebook event here.
Accessibility details: The first portion of the event will take place in the grassy, treed section of Harris Green Park just east of Vancouver Street. Unfortunately, there are no curb cuts providing access to this section of the park but we will have a temporary ramp on hand to assist those with mobility devices in getting up to the level of the grass from the street. The second portion of the event will take place in Central Park in the grassy area between the tennis courts and Crystal Pool. There are paved pathways that provide access to the area. If you have questions or concerns about accessibility at the event, please contact the festival organizers at victoriabicyclemusicfestival@gmail.com.
Those who are able are encouraged to walk, cycle or take public transit to the event. The closest bus stops to the Harris Green Park location are on Cook at Pandora/Johnson (routes 24 and 25), on Johnson east of Vancouver (routes 2, 5, 24, 25, 27, 28), and on Pandora just west of Cook (routes 2, 5, 27 and 28). There is paid parking on the south side of Harris Green Park, along the eastbound lanes of Pandora. For the second portion of the festival, bus route 6 stops on Quadra in front of Central Park. There are accessible parking spaces in the Crystal Pool parking lot and limited free street parking on Quadra adjacent to the park. There is also paid parking in the lot on the southwest corner of Quadra and Pembroke, behind the hockey arena.
The 2022 Bicycle Music Festival is presented in partnership with the Downtown Victoria Residents Association and the North Park Neighbourhood Association.
This year's event has recieved financial support from the BC Touring Council, the City of Victoria, the CRD Arts Commission, Vancity, and the SOCAN Foundation.
